This past weekend marked the annual RamGer (Lax vs Cancer) game. The Rockford and FHC communities again joined forces to to raise awareness and money for the Van Andel Institute and cancer research. The games, played by all of the youth and high school teams, were a tremendous success. Displaying the unique bond between the two communities was ever present.
During the varsity game, which concluded the first day of the two day event, the FHC varsity team defeated the Rams 13-0. A most appropriate conclusion to a hard fought game between both teams.
This season the Rangers have put a tremendous amount of focus on honoring Coach Randy Lundblad, who passed away in March after a brave two year battle with cancer. Randy helped coach the Ranger lacrosse community on and off the field over the past 6 seasons. His influence will forever impact players throughout Forest Hills and West Michigan. Randy was an All- American on the 1983 Syracuse National Champion lacrosse team. He wore the number 13. As the game neared a conclusion on Friday night it became evident to the Ranger coaching staff that getting to and staying on the number 13 would be a symbol of significance on a night where cancer and lacrosse were a focus. The players were able to accomplish that goal and pay tribute to Coach Lundblad in their special way.
Thank you to the Rockford community for hosting such a wonderful event.
